I resonate with the idea that photography allows us to see the beauty in a complex world, even when life feels chaotic. For me, capturing moments, whether it's a breathtaking sunset on the island or the joy on a couple's face during their wedding, is a way to find and share beauty, even in the most unpredictable or difficult times.

Much like the article suggests, photography has been a constant reminder of what truly matters—preserving memories of important moments in my life and the lives of my clients. The photographs I take are not just images; they are stories that live on, long after the moments they capture have passed. Every wedding I photograph, every portrait I create, holds the essence of love, connection, and celebration. These images become a testament to the relationships and milestones that define us.

Additionally, photography has become a tool for self-expression in my work. I often use my lens not just to document events, but to convey the emotions and personalities of my clients through portraits. As a makeup artist, I’ve learned how the right makeup can transform someone’s confidence, and as a photographer, I can encapsulate that transformation in a single shot. Every image I capture holds a piece of my artistic vision, and each frame is a way of expressing both my creative perspective and my connection with those I work with.

I’ve also found that photography allows me to express emotions that words cannot fully capture. It’s a therapeutic way to process feelings, especially during tough times. Sometimes, the act of capturing a moment is a way to connect with my inner self and find beauty in the world around me, even when it feels difficult.

Finally, I believe photography has the power to move others, as the article mentions. Whether it’s the images of a stunning wedding in Koh Samui or the intimate moments between a couple, photography can inspire, uplift, and encourage others to see the world through a new lens. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful a photo can be—how it can evoke emotion, bring back cherished memories, and even spark a deeper understanding of life’s fleeting beauty.

For me, photography is more than just a career; it’s a way of life, a way of capturing the essence of love, joy, and beauty in the world, and sharing it with others. It’s what keeps me going, especially on those days when creativity feels hard to come by.

I am often motivated by people. The things that interest them, the foods they like, the way they dress, talk, act in public and, of course, what is troubling them. Before I shoot, I try to talk to them to learn enough about them to bring out their emotion.

I’ve seen a lot of worries about AI and the way it’s going to impact photography and I don’t think it will because the main purpose of photography is to PORTRAY LIFE and AI is not likely to replace this purpose whatsoever. Photos come in various forms, they could be printed out or used for creating videos videos or photo books and collages, they are looked at years later and they convey memories and moments we can’t repeat. AI simply can’t beat that and photography will stay forever, it’s just that it’s going to grew more and more advanced.

Well thought it. A good read. And excellent timing for me as I’m presently sitting in a hospital bed contemplating the effects of the surgery I had last night and how it might impact they way I see the world through my lenses.

I made a promise that would never happen again. So, I purchase my first DSLR and that started this amazing journey. I have one photo of my mother. I believe that photos are a way to keep memories alive for a lifetime and I’m rarely ever without my camera. It is very true, through the lens of a camera you see things that you would otherwise ignore. The camera causes me to slow down and observe.

I also agree that photographs are the best legacies people can leave. We may not remember some of our relatives or don’t know some of our ancestors, but seeing their photos in old photo albums is like travelling in time. Plus nowadays we have way more opportunities connected to photography and we can fix old photos if they are damaged or colorize them to see how they’d look if they were new. Photography is a pure magic.
